Fundraising for everyone

In the next website update in June, there will be a full report of the recently completed and successful stem cell Pilot Study. We already know from the very positive study results that the next phase – a two-year research project – should proceed immediately.

This means that the Foundation needs to find $100,000 per year for each of the next two years of research. Or as someone put it: “you don’t need to raise $100,000, you just need 40 people to raise $2,500 each or 100 people to raise $1,000 each”.

This is a great way to look at it and is the reason that we are asking YOU, every member of the Australian HSP community who possibly can, to undertake some sort of fund-raising initiative this year.
Some of the things already planned are:

  • Gold coin day at school organised through the principal
  • 40th birthday party with donations requested instead of gifts
  • Trivia night
  • City2Surf fun run – sponsorship for three generations of the one family
  • The Gold Coast Marathon
  • Donation box at the checkout of the local supermarket.

One source of fund-raising that we have not tapped yet at all is in the workplace. Many companies these days have matching giving programs, especially where one of their employees, or their employee’s family is involved with a worthy cause. Talk about this amongst your family and talk about it at work. They have to be opportunities out there for this.

Many more ideas are available for you to check out.
