Country butcher in NSW first
Jeremy and Lara own a butcher shop in Goulburn, a country town between Sydney and Canberra in New South Wales. Jeremy has HSP and they have been community members for a while. They contacted the Foundation and asked if there was signage and information to go with a donation box on the counter in the shop to raise money for HSP research.
Their idea has now become a reality. They have some HSP flyers on display beside a donation box that carries a sign identifying HSP as the recipient of donations.
Lara commented “The donation box is going great! Lots of people put their change in. A few have asked about HSP and taken a flyer but I think people are just happy to donate! Hope everyone gets behind it and we get lots of these out on counters in shops around the country. Every bit will help!
So if there are any other retailers out there who would like to put a donation box on their counter, just email us and we’ll send you some flyers and a sign for the donation box. Or if you have an event coming up at which the HSP flyers could be displayed, let us know and we can get some to you.

Whether it is a donation box in a shop or swimming through shark infested waters or selling entertainment books to your friends and neighbours, we really need everyone to take on a fundraising initiative that reaches out to family, friends, work colleagues and the community in which you live, to help raise funds for HSP research.
