Can they get it right?
Typically, the quarterly update on the NDIS on this website has contained more bad news than good. Unfortunately the trend looks like continuing as those in charge seem to put more energy into trying to defend the indefensible, rather than working in the best interests of people with disability… and ultimately the nation… to make the scheme a source of pride and a reflection of the Australian values of equity, equality and a ‘fair go’ for all!
There is a separate article in this Summer 2017 edition of the website about how to get the most out of the NDIS, including tips and advice, plus DOs and DONTs.
Local Area Coordination
Local Area Coordinators have three key roles:
- They will link you to the NDIS
- Link you to information and support in the community, and
- Work with their local community to make sure it is more welcoming and inclusive for people with disability.

Support for Carers
The NDIS has an information and resources page to help people locate and access support services in their area.
