There was plenty to discuss judging by the photos at the recent social held in Adelaide. The venue, the Republic Hotel in Norwood, an Adelaide suburb, is described as the ‘newest’ hotel in Adelaide after renovations resulting in an upscale bistro and attractive lounge areas both indoors and outside. This was the setting for an HSP get-together to share experiences over lunch with the event giving the thumbs up from those attending – “amazing such a great group of people coming together” “good on you all for getting together!” “Very exciting and we need to see each other face-to-face”.

Another social gathering in Melbourne happened on 10 October at Zagame’s Berwick Hotel. Berwick is south-east of Dandenong and pretty much near the edge of Melbourne’s urban sprawl. The event was a great success with the following very positive comments coming in afterwards – “hi all, it was a great gathering yesterday and would like to thank Tracy for all her time and effort to put it all together. Looking forward to the next gathering to share our experiences” “yes thank you very much Tracy for organising this it was awesome” “I had a great time. It was great seeing everyone again and making new friends. Well done!”

A well supported gathering took place at the Everglades Country Club in Woy Woy. Everyone had so much fun they forgot to take photos. Feedback indicates a good time was had – “thank you to all the members who came to the Central Coast, Sydney and Newcastle meet up” “We all had a great time. It was great to share each other’s company” “enjoyed some cocktails, others enjoyed the salted caramel cheesecake” “we all had a great day and look forward to the next one”

A group of 12 gathered on 10 November at the Warner Tavern in the far north-west part of Brisbane, for lunch and a catch up, with some new faces there as well. Judging by the comments, people enjoyed themselves – “It brings myself and others so many benefits, face-to-face communication is so very healthy with all of us living the same journey with such a rare disease. I believe this interaction benefits us all enormously… a real sense of belonging” “Really enjoyable afternoon and great catch up!” “Thank you to those who shared our enjoyable lunch together today at Warner in Brisbane. It was wonderful spending time with you all, learning more and more about our rare disease and most of all meeting new people face-to-face”.

A small group gathered at Club Palm Beach at the northern tip of Sydney’s beautiful northern beaches on 2 November for lunch, with one of the community members visiting from Perth. The success of the get-together was summed up with this comment “Had a great time! It was great to meet you properly even though we were at the Melbourne one last year. Good food, great people!”
