Upcoming Events – Opportunities for Sponsorship

In 2010, a bunch of people asked their networks for sponsorship in different events around the country to fundraise for the Foundation. A total of over $10,000 or 10% of our annual budget was raised in this way … a very important contribution.

Committee member Ken Price and his three sons will again be running in the Gold Coast Marathon in early July. Support them here.

Sydney’s City2Surf event in August is again attracting considerable interest from the HSP community this year. Multiple City2Surf campaigners Chris Hall and Charles Fellner (support Charles here) are lining up again, as are first timers Stephen Flood and Natalie Lunn. And there may be one or two more. We’ll keep you posted.

Here is a list of upcoming events where the Foundation is registered as a participating charity. Anyone who is taking part in one of these events can create their own fundraising page on the Everyday Hero website, nominating the HSP Research Foundation as their chosen charity, then let all their friends, colleagues and supporters know about it so that they can sponsor you.

If you are entering any of these events, please email us at the Foundation and let us know so that we can support you in publicising your participation.

Run Melbourne presented by The Age, is the community fitness event for everyone. With the right training, anyone, at any age and any fitness level can participate. It’s also an opportunity to raise money for the charity you care about most. Set yourself a 5km, 10km or half marathon challenge and start training.

$280,000 was raised in 2008 for a variety of Victorian charities. In 2009, that figure almost doubled as a staggering $533,717 was raised and in 2010, 17,655 runners and walkers raised more than $1 million! This year, we are aiming to raise a much-needed $1.5 million for worthy causes!

Arising from very humble beginnings in 1983, the very first Noosa Triathlon attracted only 180 competitors, helmets were optional, wetsuits were banned and cyclists got lost on the course! However, in its 28 years of operation, USM EVENTS (USM) has developed the triathlon into a first class international multi sport and entertainment event. Every year national and international competitors and spectators flock to Queensland’s shores to witness not only Noosa’s most prominent annual festival, but also Australia’s largest triathlon event and the largest Multi Sport Festival of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

Today, the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival is an annual five-day hallmark event, celebrating sports participation, healthy lifestyles, fitness and fun. With an irresistible mix of sport and entertainment coupled with sun, sea and surf in one of Australia’s most popular destinations – Noosa – the event consists of various family, social and sporting activities for all ages and abilities. The feature event on the final day of the festival is the Noosa Triathlon.

So get involved, get training and register now for the 2011 Noosa Triathlon Multisport Festival.
